At work, we have Meru Dual Band Networking.

We have been having problems with the Logins, they have been taking forever.

I have been investigating and the laptops we have are the HP 4525s and I think they run Single band N, which could be a factor in why they are so slow.

They have these Cards in = broadcom 4313GN

I want to give work some solid points on if and why we need to get some dual band adapters.

Anyone have these cards and confirm if they work on the 5.0ghz range or not?

Thats really the only point I will need to produce.

Michael.

HP Quickspecs for the 4425 / 4525

Broadcom 4313GN 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter

Frequency Band 2.4 GHz

Broadcom 4313GN 802.11b/g/n 1x1 WiFi and Bluetooth 3.0 + High Speed (HS) Combo Adapter

Frequency Band 2.4 GHz

Moving to 5Ghz might help if 2.4Ghz is badly congested.

You don't have roaming profiles do you? They can slow down logins if the profile is big.

We do use roaming profiles, We have dual band access points so theorectally it should speed things up if we get dual band adapters.

Plus, from hp forums, it looks like the maximum throughput is 72Mbps
After getting everything setup, I connected to my home "N" wireless network, only to find the Broadcom 4313GN will only connect at 65mb - 72mb. This is NOT "Wireless N". After doing some research, I have read that this chipset is physically incapable of connecting at over 72mb. Again, this is NOT "Wireless N". My old laptop, my best friends laptop, and my neighbors cheap netbook all connect to my network at 130 - 150mb. I know the network is setup correctly. I briefly installed a Cisco USB "N" adapter into the HP laptop, and it too connected easily @ 130mb.
