Work servers empty/down or a problem on my side?

Now on the 12th attempt to get work, 3 of my 5 cores are sitting twiddling their thumbs.

(Running av methods through client cfg and service command line)

An example:

tried restarting router, even left it with the power brick unplugged till everything cooled down. Powered machines on just now and still nothing :(

Have you tried the old "Use IE settings Yes/No" thing? It's generally best to set it to No but if that's not working you could try Yes. IE7 seems to mess with the functionality, if it's set to Yes currently and you have IE7 then that will be it - though I would imagine that wouldn't stop you seeing the OK appear in the browser

I'm getting the same thing since Dec 11th for one core and Dec 26th for another core
[10:19:32] - Preparing to get new work unit...
[10:19:32] - Autosending finished units...

I read somewhere else that the error code 503 is overloaded servers, but found no confirmation of that. Surely that can't be the case since December - especially if other people aren't having any problems.

I'm running mine from the office so I suppose IT could have changed something, but since someone else has the same problem it might not be.

When that happens for me - I stop the service and run programe directly via a double click on the .exe file usually picks up a new Wu first time. Then close the window (Ctrl C) and restart the service.

One of the slower PC here at work needed this each and every time a WU finished for about two month :( After the first week I ran two clients on it to minimise down time (and added some extra Ram) but it's been working fine now for a month or so (after a windows update I think) was a real drag.

I am having the same problems.

etc etc. Havent changed anything on the comp.

For some reason this fixed it:

power down anything and everything related to computers

power back on 5 mins later.

:confused::confused:

seriously, wtf, how on earth did doing that fix it?

Your computers were filled with bad ju-ju. Turning them all off reset their ju-ju coefficient and enabled the wee demons inside to resume their toil making bits do their thing.

That's not really going to be possible for me in an office of 200 odd people ;) :( I can't even get into the server room - or I'd give 'em a quick kick :D

ju-ju coefficient
lol or put another way using Priori Error analysis:

Let t be the time step for t and tn = n t with n = 0 1 ::: N (N = T t):

C2H juju t =tn+1 = ; H juju t =tn+1 ' ; H n un+1 un: The implicatations are obvious I'm sure you'll agree

Ahhh google, there was a non-voodoo answer afterall :D

Edit: just incase you think I'm crazy - I'm not, just sleep deprived

:(

It's really strange - I've just checked back through my logs and everything has connected first try except for one which took 1 extra attempt and was probably due to the brat maxing out the connection with some torrents rather than anything else.

I can't see any mass reports of being unable to connect on the main folding forums either :confused:
