Work Shirts

Then people would be able to see the vest, and OP would look like his mum still dresses him.

he should be able to get away with the super man logo on the vest :D

M&S usually do a thin low V neck style vest which is ideal for the summer. You can't really see it when worn with a shirt and it takes soaks up the sweat when worn with a darker shirt.

yea true, I normally wear vests if i wanna work out or something.

I've always bought my work shirts from Next but my latest purchase is disappointing. I bought two shirts, one sky blue, the other plain white. I opened the sky blue one first to make sure the fit was ok (had to go up a collar size) but noticed the material was a lot thinner than previous shirts I have bought. I washed and ironed it anyway as it looked nice. This morning I went to try the white one on and the material is so thin you can see my nipples through it. I've chucked both the packaging and receipt away so no chance of getting my money back.

How much were they?

Aren't I correct in assuming shirts and ties from TM Lewin, Charles Tyrwhitt and Thomas Pink all come from the same supplier/manufacturer?

Another +1 for Charles Tyrwhitt. Been wearing them for years.

No idea where or who they're made by and don't really care - the quality for the price (I only buy during their eternal sales) is excellent.

Edit: The 10% quidco is nice as well ;)

I always wear a thin white v-neck tshirt/vest under shirts. Always have done always will do.

I buy most of my work shirts from M&S. Though if I want something a little nicer I'll go to some of the more specialist stores.

Thomas Pink shirts are made in Thailand not Derry. That aside, Thomas Pink shirts are better quality than Charles Tyrwhitt and TM Lewin but then cost a bit more.

M&S here. I have some decent quality shirts on standby for interviews or when I need to look ultra-smart, but I employ the 'buy cheap, chuck often' approach for standard everyday work shirts.

The above would almost certainly be different if I was in the situation whereby I was seeking internal promotion or something.

I usually just wait till the sales for the above, although to be fair I've mostly bought casual stuff from them (Liberty print shirt for £100 off ftw since I've yet to really work a particularly formal job.

they are probably thinner because they are a more summery range , maybe you usually buy over autumn winter ?

a company like NEXT would probably take them back without the receipt , or atleast listen to your concerns
