My dads been a electrician for a hotel for many years, 20 to be exact.

Recently him and the owner had a huge row over my dads other business (he does property development) he was renting his house to 2 polish people who work at the regent, they recently left the house owing a large some of money. and took a few things from the house without permission.

my dad didnt know where to bill them! due to them not telling him there current address, so he rang the gas, electric providers to ask what to do, they asked for place of work. he gave them it.

Now. the bills where sent to the hotel. and the owner rang my dad saying he sent them back to the companys as he doesnt want the bills being sent to the hotel. The owner has taken sides of the polish saying that my dad is bullying them. and now my dad is not allowed to step foot on the hotel again.

My dad is really well known at the hotel. he gets on with almost everyone, and gets the out them **** whenever they need it, electrical wise. no matter what time of night. or day.

When dad asked about loyalty the owner replied "**** the loyalty".

Now you must also know i work for the hotel as catering/bar staff. and the owner tried bringing me into it, calling me rascist for supposebly saying i didnt want to work alongside the polish, which is true, it would be very awkward for me. After all the arguments, now i dont know whether to quit this job before they try bringing me deeper into it, and either sacking or trying to make an example of me at the workplace?

Im thinking about leaving also, due to loyalty to my father too.

Its a very short version of the story but you get the jist,

Opinions?

P.S- my i also add my dad helped the polish couple out to a great length lending them money when one wanted to go home to see her mother, the money was repaid back to him, but they still owe a lot rent wise. he also helped them get out of there last house due to violence etc.

have you worked there a year or more?

Why not take it further and say you felt 'pressured' to leave and were made to feel uncomfortable with work due to the situation, normally i wouldn't recommend this but the boss sounds like he deserves it, also, surely your father must have some 'job protection?' after working for them for 20 years, was he self employed?

self employed mate he said he doesnt need them, he has plenty other work.

ive worked there more than a year its been about two years, but i couldnt give a monkeys. so i quit.

he'll get what he deserves.

would be tempted to put a claim against them, just to **** the manager off. constructive dismissal?

im not sure what laws i could get them under? any help?

p.s- probably not worth it, as it wasnt fulltime.

That was my first thought. As for yourself, you're old enough now that you should be able to find a better job than hotel work fairly easily, so you've done the right thing in leaving. It's never worth being in a job where you feel awkward and unhappy if you're finacially ok to leave.

im a uni student so all my effort is going into that now, i can have back my evenings and sleep.
