Hi all work is throwing out some kit and I noticed amongst those a dell poweredge 2800 server circa Xeon 3.0 days (not sure if it has two Xeon's inside, may do) another dell tower server forgot to take the model earlier, used to run our swyx VoIP system back in the day. Both servers have some drives. Cisco blade rack.

Didn't have a chance to have a good look earlier although I want to get there before someone else does

Worth a punt on selling?

Do it.

A place I worked at years ago were getting rid of some out of warranty dell servers, throwing them in a skip!

I asked about them and the boss said we could take what we wanted, I got 2 ebay'd both for over £400!!

If they've not been already, make sure they've been Boot and Nuked if they still have disks in them and then get them on eBay :)

I'm teaching myself (trying to) virtualization and wouldn't mind some of that kit. I could pick up too if you like. Drop me a line if you wouldn't mind.

Only usable stuff really I bothered taking only turned out to be a Dell PowerEdge 1600SC Tower Server than was used a few years back to test some older ESXi Virtualisation, it was running an earlier version of ESXi (v3.0)

Specs

Xeon 2.4ghz (can install another CPU as the motherboard has two processor slots)
4GB PC3200 ECC RAM
4 x 36GB 10K Ultra SCSI Drives
CD ROM Drive
Tape Drive
Floppy Drive
Onboard 10/100/1000 NIC
Seperate Dedicated NIC card

Didnt bother taking the Cisco Catalyst Stack unit as its big, heavy and quite old, might be hard selling anyway.

You'll struggle to give a 1600SC away. They're 32bit only, single core only, and won't take more than 4Gb of memory.

If you want the pair of 2.66GHz processors I pulled from one a couple of years ago you can have them for the postage. I may have the coolers kicking around somewhere as well.

Edit: There's a pair of 2.8GHz processors as well that I'd forgotten about.
