Hat's off, quite an easy mod as well. :)

is there any benefit in this?

Well if you read the link i posted, he found that he could get a slightly higher overclock on a few chips.

Memory bandwidth goes up as well, so faster overall system.

Some intel boards don't have a native 1333fsb strap when you overclock them, so you are overclocking the northbridge as well, northbridge overclocks are limiting in a few cases. So with a higher fsb strap, the nothbridge isnt as overclocked as much and can open the possibility of reaching a higher oc.

Quite a number of cheapish boards dont let you hit that oc, some dont allow oc, this helps out.

:)

There is no danger other than any other ganeral danger you have when overclocking. :)

With this mod you could relive some electrical stress from both the nb and the cpu which in turn, could allow for higher oc and a faster 'stock'

Danger, not really i wouldnt be worried if temps are okay and if you are below 3.8 ghz for it....

Hmmm wont the mainboard be confused with this mod tho? How will overcloking be after modding the cpu?

If the mainboard supports 1333fsb, after the mod, the bios/cpu defaults will be exactly the same bar the stock fsb will now be 1333 instead of 1066.

overclocking seems to be slightly improved, stability also in a few cases.

does this work on E6300's too? and what exactly do you do 0_O, that pic aint clear. do i connect the pins using a graphite pencil? or?

6300 is a castrated conroe so it will work.

Check the link as it contains many more pictures. :)

Might give this a go, where do you get conductive paint, local auto parts store?

Jokester

I bought mine from a well known electronics store. Even though their pricing is atrocious, they are competitors so i cant post the pen. :(

Auction sites.

Im so trying this on a E4300 heres how: :D

This will mean 9x 266 meaning 2.7ghz on a 35 quid ASROCK!

E4300 ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^Method

Please report back :)

@EasyRider

Going by yhe pic in the 1st post by LazyBoy you could have fireworks, you have linked a wrong pin.

For 200fsb models it is different.

See here.

*should* be going to overclockers tomorrow to pick up my 4300/6300, abit 680i and 2gb geil 6400c4

will report back on the mods :)

That's if i can get my rear tyre puncture repaired, just had a new set as well....

*grumbles*

You need to remember that the cpu must be able to boot/stable at those clock speeds properly and ideally at stock vcore, not needed though.

clocking depends on the luck of the chip you get, some chips i have had pass through my hands can barely do 5mhz above! (yes they are that bad)

As i said it depends on what clocking chip you get, some are great some are ****.

Personally i would go for the 6300, i think i will be.
