Hi all,

After being made redundant from my job - I've been put in a position where travelling to work somewhere different is now very do-able; rather than just a dream.

Having never really traveled before, I'm looking for somewhere opposite to London (beautiful views, chilled people and just a different experience).

If someone was to ask me for my all time list; it would go something like:

1. Canada
2. NZ
3. Switzerland/Finland/Sweden/Denmark

Job wise, I've got 4 years experience in marketing and worked as a marketing executive - I would be very keen to carry on in this profession.

I've just been in touch with Bunac - my question is really if anyone has any recommendations of organisations that can help me get set up/find a place?

I'm looking to go for a year or two.

Thanks :D

If you are under 30 you can get a working holiday visa for Canada/NZ.

Don't bother with Bunac. Just get yourself a Hostel/AirBnB for first week or two whilst you sort your own place and find work.

I lived in Brussels for 3 years and my younger brother is now living in Lausanne - Switzerland. Personally I loved it as does my brother completely different pace of living compared to the UK. Although I'm back in the UK now...(but only for a while).

Both me and my brother had assistance from the company that employed us. But I guess that would be heavily dependent on the company hiring you. Whatever company that is involved will obviously know you are relocating from another country "usually" will help you out in this case. Some places will give you a relocation package which helps you get on your feet. I would enquire with whichever company you are interviewing for if they offer assistance in that matter.

As for any external help, I can't offer more advice other than do your research.

I can't really offer any advice, having never moved to any of those places or used any companies to set me up abroad, I just came in to say do it :p Came to Taiwan 3 years ago, not looking forward to the reality of one day going home.

Lived in HK for a few years now Germany. If you're just looking at getting away for a couple years Hong Kong is an awesome place. Good pay, low tax, stone's throw from all of SE Asia, easy to settle, English language everywhere. Pretty busy and all but does have amazing scenery, you can literally walk from the chaos of Causeway Bay to being sat on your own on the top of a mountain completely alone in 40 minutes.

Germany is a great place to live, it's a mile away from the grind of London where all anyone cares about is careers and property prices. Germans know how to enjoy life, very strong workers and tenants right, great work/life balance.
