I know mcdonalds isn't the best job and I'd also like to include that I'm going to college aswell so not trying to make a career xD haha. Anyways I was wondering what it's like working at mcdonalds as I have been accepted as a crew member. What can I expect to do and what are your experiences with them as a company to work for? Cheers

My wife worked there when she was in college, said it was pretty good.

(that was 8 years ago though)

I've never worked for them, but i wouldn't take any notice of those who take the pee out of maccy d's staff, Maccy D's is actually a very good company to work for, you'll be able to do loads of training and courses as an employee, they have a good staff structure that you can work your way up, once you start moving up the ladder, the wages aren't that bad either. In this day and age, a job is a job ;)

Good luck :)

No idea what it's like but don't write it off as not becoming a career, I know 2 guys one who left school at 17 and started as a crew member and now at 24 has worked his way up to area management and another who went to uni but kept it as a part time job and is now in a similar position.

Cheers mate, it's my first job so I'm not exactly experienced. And yeah your right in this economy anything will do!

I worked there when in college.

Was awesome fun. Was a manager within about 6 months - Stayed for a couple of years and the management experience helped when moving onto a new job. Store managers are on about £28k mind - Some of the area manager roles are £50k+. Plenty of scope for a decent career there.

Highly recommended from me.

Have a cousin which works for them. He says it's a good place to work for, with it being his first job. It's busy on some days so you definitely have to keep up with everything, but you should settle in quickly.

Both my step kids worked for them, free meals and drinks at breaks, you will be expected to do all sorts of jobs from cooking and serving customers to cleaning the toilets.

I was going to offer something insightful but all I can think of is the "eggface" incident.

It's been a long day.

I've worked there for three years, it's an alright job but not the best. The hours are horrible at times and the pay doesn't reflect the amount of work you put in (Checkout operators in ASDA are on a better standard rate than Crew Trainers and the basic rate for Shift Managers is a joke).

The only real positive of working for the company is the atmosphere, I've worked at several stores and all have had a good vibe, because promotion is so easy you'll get a lot of jumped up 18 year old managers pretending to be MD's who belittle crew but it's not a problem since most of the workforce are students and such so it's very easy to make new friends and make bad situations bearable. The company is very flexible with working hours and I've never been declined time off in my time there and I can swap shifts with other staff without issue, job security is about as good as it gets too.

Try and jump on the apprenticeship too if you can, it takes about 6 months and is all done on the job. You'll get thrown through your initial training much quicker and it's recognized in other job's, it will also set you up for promotion too because you now need it to progress from Crew Member.

Just go for it and see how you get on, McD's has a huge staff turnover so if you don't like it just pack it in :)

Oh yeah, and employee discounts are pretty cool too. Meals for £2.29 etc makes it difficult to keep the waist size down.

get in there Braywood, do your best, take your pay and hold your head high.

my good friend is currently waiting for funding for her PHD in Biology, she works there 20 - 30 hrs a week, she has said they are a fair company to work for.

good luck

Someone I know of used to work for them, used to slyly keep the monopoly stickers people would redeem for free Big Macs etc and use them in a different branch :D
