Just wondering if anyone else here is doing any work (volunteering or otherwise) with the Olympics?

Me, I'll be working as a bartender at Horse Guards Parade starting 27th until the 9th, with most days starting at 6:30am! :o
Luckily, I have an aunt who lives in London and so going to stay with her, otherwise I'd have to get up at 3am! (instead of 5am).

Should be good fun, but I can imagine it being very very busy! It'll be my first time as a bartender but I'm a quick learner (and been to plenty of bars/clubs to know how to pull a pint) so there shouldn't be any problem, I hope!

See if you can get to a stage where you can keep more than 1 order in your head at any one time. This will set you apart and above 99% of the bartenders in England. They seem to only be able to manage 1 order at a time and have to complete it take the cash, give the change before they can even start to think about taking the 2nd order. Dreadful.

Haha yeah, slow bartenders annoy me. Nah, I'm alright with short-term memory and multitasking. However, it's not going to be run like normal bars where each person takes an order, pours and uses the till. Each person is going to have a role (which will swap throughout the day), where it's just pouring, or just taking orders, etc, a bit like fast fod restaurants. More efficient apparently.

That sucks big time! :(
