Got the chance to work from home, I'm not sure what's best for the sound/talking part when in teams meetings, my ears doesn't like headphones well I have never found any that doesn't hurt my ears. I could go the speakerphone way but not sure if it would be ideal. So thought I would pop in here and see what everyone else uses.

I'm in teams meetings most the day. The noise cancellation in teams works great, as does the pickup from a Microsoft lifecam.

Really is no need to use more.

I suppose I could get a better webcam have things improved though with webcam mics. If i didn't turn up to the teams meetings I would be out of a job quickly lol as it will be a lot of teams meetings.

It's the software thats got a lot better. I used to use RTX Voice, but now the stuff built into Teams does just as good a job.
That will be great then if Teams does a good job, I was concerned about background noise. My webcam is old, one of the early versions of the Logitech C920.

I have a jabra conference speaker which works surprisingly well.
Then a cisco headset if there is a lot of background noise going on.

The built in mic and speakers of my laptop, though I'm never in meetings long enough to worry about it.

But during covid I used it all day every day instructing and it was more than adequate. I'm similar that I don't like using headphones for prolonged periods.

Just remember and mute when you go for a poo.....

What Jabra model and headset do you use?

Always worth remembering rule #1 of Teams meetings. Mute yourself unless you’re speaking.
Yes that is a good golden rule..

You don't need a good webcam, get the cheapest one.

As long as everybody else's webcam is good you can see fine.

I work from home enough that I got a Logitech C920 and a 'Yotto' brand condenser mic on an arm. I do record the odd video, so a decent mic was worthwhile.

The vast majority of webcams will be just fine on their own though, depending on your background light and noise levels.

In my view, there's a baseline level you need to hit, where people can see and hear you clearly. If you're one of those people that has a naff setup, or shoddy internet, it's just not professional. Sort it out.

I was thinking more of the microphone may have improved with newer webcams. Cheers

Yes i agree you need to be professional to a certain point. Looks like I might have get a headset as I have just found out this morning that there will be building of new homes starting soon, so there is going to be a lot of background noise going on. that's not what I wanted to hear as I really don't get on with headphones. I thought i might get away with a speakerphone.

Posted this in another thread too but I use a Sennheiser SC165 headset. Excellent noise cancellation and very lightweight. They don’t ‘clamp’ on to your head which some headsets do (I hate them types!). Hope this helps :)
