Working out my PPD

ok just added my 3rd box onto my list, i currently got running

Cel 2.6GHz, 512MB ram, CentOS
P4 3GHz, 1GB Ram, CentOS
P4 3GHz, 1GB Ram, WinXP

w00t! Do you want us to just take a stab at what you'll see for your increased productivity?

I reckon you'll get about 75-85 PPD from the Celly and 100-120 PPD from the P4s; slightly more on the Windows machine, slightly less on the Linux machine.

you would have thought that a *nix box would be a higher rate as it doesnt use half as much resources as a windows box

It does have that advantage. However, it's also saddled with a bunch of Gromacs33 (FahCore_a0.exe) WUs that get just plain terrible PPD on any rig on which I've crunched them. 1 in 3 of the regular client WUs I get on Linux clients are Gromacs33.

Yeah those gromacs33 suck, although on an AMD system you get a SSE and 3DNow boost... Not sure how much of an improvement the 3DNow! is...

Remember to use -advmethods and you should be fine.

Oddly enough my Intel rigs also say 3DNow! boost enabled when running Gro33. I never really gave it much thought.
