Hi all, I'm about the backup my system image so I can restore to a new 240gb SSD from my existing 2gb HDD C: partion (2 x 1gb in RAID 0 Pair).

I'm having trouble working out what the shrink size figures need to be.

My system reserved space is 100mb
My total C drive is 1862.92Mb (NTFS)
Free space is 1792.52Mb as I've transferred most my data to a backup drive which is where I will create my backup image of the newly partition C drive when done for the restore to the SSD.

The New SSD is 240Gb and my C drive OS and Data is 109Gb, but the partiotion size is the whole disk.

I go into Shrink C Drive under Disk Management and I get the below options:

Total Size Before Shrink in MB = 1907632
Size of available Shrink space in MB = 934283
Enter the amount of space to Shrink in MB = 934283 (default in editable field)
Total size after Shrink in MB = 973349

I want to get the partition size to 160Gb to fit the new SSD and then when working extend to the full 240Gb.

What do I need to set in the "Enter the amount of space to Shrink in MB =" to get to the 160Gb size?

OK, I downloaded the free version of EaseUS Partition Manager which is very easy to use and you can just use a slider to set what partition size you want. Windows 7 Disk Manager is a little restricted in use and DiskPart is command line so unless your used to command line tools stick to the easy 3rd party tools.
