Hi, I am a 48 year old man who still plays basketball. When basketball stopped because of Covid, I basically stopped doing any real cardio and started doing some body weight workouts.
For the last few months, three times a week I do a 45min to an hour workout(Monday, Wednesday, Friday) The workout consists of Push ups, Chin ups, Planks, leg raises, squats, lunges, calf raises and balance stuff.
But now basketball is slowly coming back into full swing. Starting in the next couple of weeks I will be playing on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday evenings for an hour and half. Then again on Saturday for two hours.
I am just trying to work out what the best way to fit in the other workouts that I have been doing with my basketball schedule. My plan was to use Thursday and Sunday as rest days. To do the workouts as normal early on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and then basketball in the evenings.
Or would it better to scrap one of the rest days and do something like this.
Monday - Full workout.
Tuesday - Basketball.
Wednesday - core and upper body. Basketball in evening.
Thursday - leg workout.
Friday - Core and upper body. Basketball in evening.
Saturday - Basketball.
Sunday - Rest.
EDIT: Should add that there is no real Fitness done during the basketball sessions. The basketball sessions are all basketball, drills etc. Also the sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday are a lot less intense then the sessions on Friday and Saturday. The Wednesday session is mainly over 40 players.
