Hi,

I've previously put together some PC's. However it was a fair few years ago, so I wanted to check if i've made any errors or if you guys had any recommendations:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i7-3770K 3.50GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - OEM £245.99
1 x ASRock Z77 Extreme4 Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £125.99
1 x Corsair Vengeance 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual/Quad Channel Kit (CMZ16GX3M4A1600C9) £89.99
1 x Samsung 128GB SSD 830 Series SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Drive - (MZ-7PC128B/WW) £89.99
1 x BitFenix Shinobi USB3.0 Gaming Windowed Case - Black £56.99
1 x Cooler Master Silent Pro Modular 500W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply £54.98
Total : £678.02 (includes shipping : £11.75).

Oh and a NVIDIA 660 ti when its released, until then i'll just use onboard

I already have a second 2Tb HDD and some thermal paste :-)

Thanks in advance for your expertise

Unless you are doing work that need the extra hyper-threading on the core in the i7 then an i5 3570K will be enough for the processor.

Personally I would swap out the motherboard to one of these as they have a UK based RMA center should anything wrong and more USB 3 ports on the back.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard with FREE BOOGIE BUG XXL GAMING MOUSE MAT £129.98
Total : £139.88 (includes shipping : £8.25).

Also the heat sinks on the RAM could conflict with any large cooler that you chose to go for. Best stick to the low profile stuff.

YOUR BASKET
2 x Corsair Vengeance Low Profile 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CML8GX3M2A1600C9) £35.99 (71.98)
Total : £80.68 (includes shipping : £7.25).

Awesome

Just the advice I was after, thank you.

So I guess I could order the non oem cpu as I don't think ill overclock. My thinking is that if I overclocked, at best I could get 25% faster renderings so for example 10 hours instead of 12.5 hours. But I would spend all my time wondering if my CPU is gonna cook, as well as the added OC hassle and setup.

Cheers
