World at War steam version won't start

For some reason every time i try to launch it just crashes. It's nothing to do with hardware as my pc is perfectly capable of running high end games so i have no idea what's going on, suggestions?

Make sure the sound in the advanced tab of your speaker properties are set to 24bit 48000hz (studio quality).
