A few questions to anyone that is more experienced:

What's the "best" online betting site to use? I know it's a some-what silly question, but there's many to choose from, who should I go with?

Is it better to bet on the night or few days before?

Any tips?

1. There is no best.

2. You need to check around for best prices.

3. Don't expect to win, so keep your stakes small.

4. It depends on what you're betting on as to when is best time to bet. Some odds change very little, some have ante-post clauses (e.g. no money back) and some odds will only get worse the closer to the event (e.g. people backing a heavy favourite)

I like betfair the best.

Nice layour, good on ipad and mobile and I love the cash out feature.

If you bet on Italy to beat England, Italy take the lead but with 20 minutes to go England look like they might score. You can cash out your bet for a reduced profit.

I used this to awesome effect during the Champions league final.

I bet on Athletico Madrid to win the champions league in 90 minutes. Also placed a bet on Real Madrid to win the champions league. With Athletico winning 1-0 towards the end of the match I cashed out my bet (probably took about 80-90% of whatever I could have won had I waited), then Real Madrid went on to win the champions league in extra time after grabbing a late equaliser. Pure luck but I felt like a genius at the time :D

Use a site called oddschecker and it gives all the odds for most major bookies then pick the best one to place your bet

edit: oops shouldve read the other posts

I use William Hill as I signed up during a previous offer.

I do a fair few 7 or 8 match accumulators with low odds for a low stake but it stacks up eventually.

For one off bets, I tend to stick to horses as football requires a larger stake and I don't like losing money.

So for this year, I am up £35 (watch that disappear over the next few weeks)

Betfair are doing 10/1 on Brazil to win for new customers.
Paddy Power are doing 12/1 on Argentina to win for new customers.

Boylessport are doing double odds on WC winner as a signup bonus (£20 max). And don't forget the cash back sites when signing up.
