After watching many games during the cup so far, I think many of the referees have been extreemely poor, but the Portugal vs Netherlands game this evening was the final straw. So many decisions, many completely incoherant with other decisions. One example being Deco getting sent for picking up the ball waasting time, yet the Dutch player gets away freely with throwing him on the floor.....

Rugby has been using video ref for a while now and it has done well, how long is football going to continue in this state without going the same way?

The problem is that rugby is already a pretty slow game with plenty of stoppages that don't matter if you stop play for a bit or not.

Football couldn't work the same way. I do believe more technology should be used, but not exactly the same as rugby.

Plus in rugby they chase eggs! Such an easter bunny game :D

After tonights game it was so slow its was stupid, attack oops foul, attack oops off, attack oops foul, etc.

should be for goal line chances and whatever

it wil never happen, too much so so what if , u cant do that,

Not time for a video ref. Time to stop taking refs because we need them from all over, time to start taking refs because they consistently perform in high-profile matches.

Wouldnt be much of a stoppage and how often is video ref really gonna be needed, id say theres been <15 moments in the WC so far that could have done with the vid ref. And when you watch the games they have replays in a matter of seconds! Its like "Joe cole shoots!!" *goalie is taken his kick* and the replay has already been shown!

I would like video decisions on was the ball over the goal line or not, but not for every incident, as it would just slow the game down way too much, maybe they could do something like the NFL when each team has 3 chances to query a decision but even then it might be a bit too much.

Isnt that ref called Pol or what ever hes called fropm england?
So wouldnt he be a high profile ref? It didnt look like it when he was feffing Aus vs Croat :p

Bring him back.

Fifa need to stop interfering by constantly making rule changes and forcing referees to be ruthless over minor things like taking your shirt off to celebrate a goal. Some refs have 'lost the plot' in this world cup but they are not helped by the players surrounding him at every decision and cheating to gain advantage.

It shouldn't slow the game down, the video ref is used in League when the ref hasn't been able to see if the player was in control of the ball when he placed it. I also think the ref was used to check a 40/20 kick.

I think it certainly could be used in football, especially to do with the awarding of goals. That would certainly help and he should only be used if the on pitch ref is unsure, etc.

It doesn't matter to me about Poll because he's a pants ref anyway. I didn't say that English refs were the best, because there are better ones from all over. I just want consistent refs who have some bottle. Collina is a good example for refs to follow I think.

There should never be video technology used during a match, it would kill the game. The only technology that should be used is a goal line sensor that gives the ref a signal when the ball crosses the line.

I think it's harsh to criticise refs when 90% of the players at the world cup are cheating scoundrels and constantly try to force the ref to make bad decisions.

I think last night was a good example of this - as soon as they knew the ref had a yellow card fetish, they played on it.
