World Cup Second Round - Spain v France **SPOILERS**

spain should win comfortably, France's coach Domenech isn't great - he has made some poor decisions for france (like keeping Barthez #1 instead of Coupet, starting with wiltord in the first match and not including Guily in the squad) and France are not as strong as Spain. If France win it will be a big upset but it could happen.

ballistic is so right - giuly would have been one of the best players in the world cup let alone in the french team - they are persisiting with zidane when they cannot afford to play makelele, vieira and zindane - one has to be dropped to afford them to play wingers - where giuly would have excelled on the right.

thuram looks average now - passed his best; silvestre has shown himself to be reliant on pace with nothing else in the bag - not good enough - note to man utd sell to lyon whilst you can still get decent cash for him. ribery, whilst looking tralented is lacking end product and you get the feeling there is a hierarchy in the team between old and new players

saying that this is tough match for spain - france have that better composure and experience - added to a defensive unit of makelele, vieira and the defense.... this game could really go either way - the first goal will be the telling sign for the way it will go... got a feeling france will nick it, and then go out in the next round to a probably lesser opponent!

Looking forward to this game. The Spanish have looked pretty comfortable and have played within themselves whereas the French have looked like an aging spent force. I think Spain are capable of ripping them to pieces but I think it will be a close game with the Spanish winning 2-1.

Doh, here we go! Vamos a ganar Espanya! :D Ribery's running is a threat (but not his shooting), Henry looks like a pale shadow of himself, and the rest of the French team is doing nothing (Willy Sagnol perhaps), as for Spain, they are on fire and will show everyone why they are title contenders. :D

puyol is a class defender and then you have raul and torres up the front

Spain are playing 4 3 3 tonight with raul, torres and villa upfront.

Can see france getting beat quite convincingly tbh

Don't forget a midfield comprising of Alonso, Fabregas, and Joaquin

I thought it was Alonso, Fabregas and Xavi

Xavi is injured, is he not  Anyway, I was thinking of a 4-4-2 type midfield, and I would stick Joaquin on the right wing with the other two in centre midfield [/CM]

Teams are in

Spain: Casillas, Pablo, Puyol, Sergio Ramos, Pernia, Fabregas, Xavi, Alonso, Villa, Torres, Raul.
Subs: Salgado, Marchena, Albelda, Reyes, Luis Garcia, Antonio Lopez, Iniesta, Senna, Joaquin, Canizares, Juanito, Reina.

France: Barthez, Sagnol, Thuram, Gallas, Abidal, Ribery, Zidane, Makelele, Vieira, Malouda, Henry.
Subs: Landreau, Boumsong, Dhorasoo, Govou, Wiltord, Silvestre, Saha, Givet, Diarra, Trezeguet, Chimbonda, Coupet.

I thought he would have had a bash up front with Saha tonight

Henry and Saha coming at the ageing Spanish defense is a frightening thought
