World in Conflict Performance, memory to blame?

Bought World in Conflict off steam a few days ago. Currently running it on nearly maxxed settings and my performance is excellent. However there are a few problems.

Ive noticed when playing multiplayer games my performance decreases over time, especially after a nuke goes off, my fps seems to dip permanently. However if I minimise the game and bring it back up my performance wil suddenly shoot up again. Any ideas on why its doing this, this problem only seems to happen in World in Conflict.

I dont think its overheating (my cpu temp doesnt go above 35C and my gpu temp doesnt go above 65C).

My specs

Q6600 running stock
2GB DDR2 Ram
8800GTS 320MB

cheers

nukes have a mega impact on performance unless you have a mega rig, think about whats going on in the screen at the time, your card is passable but not exactly state of the art.

If you fancy a game sometime give me a shout (MikeBUK)

i think it originally had a problem with dropping memory from the GPU, this was present even in the demo when everyone was getting those nice shiny 8800GTS/X and it was a pain the the arse, i would have thought they'd have fixed it by now! i don't think there's anything you can do really save buying a GPU with more on board memory say 512 or even 1024mb, but it will always be a problem

I can run it fine (On vista 64)even with multiple nukes, I use DX10 and have a 260 196 card though.

Some maps are worse than others, spaceneedle is a nukefest and will effect badly an older card.
