Hey. :)

Sorry if this is wrong section for this post. I wasn't sure whether it should go here or in the games section...

I've just got WIC! I was hoping it would run faultlessly as my spec should run a game that's 2 years old well, right? Err, no... :(

I maxed everything in the graphics options, and started the tutorial, and it was perfect. 60fps (using Vsync) the whole way through. Alas, as soon as I started the campaign, it was a different story.

I went back into the graphics options noticed there was a benchmark tool. I ran in, and soon enough, I realised I wasn't getting my desired 60fps. I think it was averaging around 40fps. I reduced the AA from x16 to x4 and the AF from x16 to x4, and tested again. I got the same average fps! I then tried lowering the resolution from 1920x1200 to something much less, but I can't remember what it was, lol. ;) Anyway, that made no impact on the fps either. So I now had settings that performed no different, but looked a lot worse. :(

I then set the overall settings from Very High to Medium. I got a prompt appear, which stated that I was moving from DX10 to DX9 graphics, and WIC must be restarted to take affect. After restarting, I ran the benchmark again and it was much better! Not perfect, but better...

I'm playing the campaign again, but I'm still not getting my desired 60fps constant. I checked the SLi bar to see how much SLi was working, and it didn't look to me like it was doing a whole lot... Does anyone know something I don't? Is there any patches out for this game?

Many thanks in advance! :D

i think there is or was a problem with wic and sil systems , have you updated the drivers? Aslo bear in mind although 2 years old , its still a very intensive game , esp. with lots on screen !

I suppose I couldn't set the game to run with just one GPU via the nVidia control panel, but I doubt it will increase the performance.

I think it's odd that the fps doesn't change much when changing the AA and AF, and also the resolution. Shows the GPUs are doing their job well, and it's down to the actual game as to why the performance isn't great...

Losing SLi and choosing a single card solution was the single best thing I ever did for my framerates. Too many games just plain don't like SLi, for whatever reason, and I'm too damned lazy to go switching it on and off all the time. :)

OK, well, I'm yet to find a game that gives me less performance with 2x gtx280's compared to 1... Let's hope I haven't stumbled across the first!

Has to be said I was running 8800M GTXs, so of course that could have been part of the problem, but there were a fair few games... Company Of Heroes, World In Conflict, Far Cry 2, Age Of Conan were a few.

I haven't done any patching. I bought it yesterday, it's the version with the Soviet add-on pack or whatever it's called...
