Can you get a group of friends togethor and play 2vs2 or even 3vs2?

Anyone had experience of this? Any comments?

Thanks :)

think I still have it installed, will check when I get home.

If you can play 3vs2 that would be handy to know. You'd think the three people would have the advantage? Would it make it too unfair? Or can you have AI team mates to?

Alas, I must have removed it. I never played it MP, just through the SP campaign which was very enjoyable.

From the wiki page about this game:

Multiplayer
Multi-player games support up to sixteen players and can be played on a LAN or over the Internet. Three types of maps are featured: domination maps, where players must control command points to win the game, assault maps, where one team defends a series of command points which the other teams assaults, and tug of war maps, where teams must fight to capture a series of command points on the front line, whereupon the line shifts towards a new set of points closer to the losing team.
The game host can add bots to play on the server. The AI is quite proficient, using different techniques for different game types and using a variety of forces together, so there are few weaknesses. Bots adapt quickly and react well to changing situations on the battlefield, and are also quite good at using tactical aids effectively[citation needed]. Bots try to obey commands given by the player by replying on-screen.
The online component of the game uses the in-game massgate system, which is derived from Ground Control[citation needed]. The system helps players keep track of friends, allowing them to see whether they are online or playing a game. Clans can be created and kept track of in-game, with features such as ranks and clan matches. Massgate includes leader boards and a ranking system based on US Army military ranks. Players can increase their rank and leader board position in a way similar to Battlefield 2, by accumulating earnings and scoring points, medals, and badges. Achieving higher ranks becomes progressively more difficult. The leader board also keeps track of clan rankings.

It's pretty good online, it's about all I use it for. You can have 3v2, in fact you can have anything up to 8v8. I haven't tried it with loads of mates, but I usually play it with someone else I know and it works well being able to co-ordinate attacks and stuff. You can pick the game up pretty cheap now as well.

So 3vs2 wouldn't mean an immediate silly advantage to the side with 3 people? You could add in 1 and 2 AIs for example accordingly?

I don't think you can add AI in, but matches with mis-matched numbers are never usually heavily one sided, it just depends on who is playing.

Played it for a bit at release, unsure if they patched ai in.

But no there isn;'t realy a dissadvantage. Skill is the main unbalancer. I found online, clans especialy oftern totaly unbalanced public games because tehy worked together with mics. It made such a huge difference.

1 noob in a team can totaly destroy it. The game is very dependent on your team mates, your using tanks. YOU NEED that anti air for when the anti tank choppers come or in no time at all they are gone. But the anti air guy has to defend othesr as well. its very tough and VERY rewarding sometimes.

Alas the genearl lack of competence in a game so dependent on skill and team play does make it difficult to have fun sometimes.

Resource wize a 3v2 will be balanced by givign the 2 players more resourses. But what is difficult is that i forget now if the 2 players can buy all vicheals. IF not then they are limited to being forced into a pairing of armour/air/infantry/support . Where as the 3 playesr obv can cover more of the rock paper sissors triangle.

But im not sure but the 2 playesr may be able to buy from all 4 of the support types and thus it will balance the game out nicely. Skill will be the limiting factor not number of players.

No worries, youve made me want to reinstall it. Its got quite a steap learning curve btw.

I mean youll only be using like 4-8 units a time really depending on how many palyers thre are. But the level of micromanagement is quite intence but thast whats rewarding.

Learning the basics will take you an hour probably, learning to beat your oponents without having an advantage will take significantly longer.

A tip (may be affected by patchs now) when you get the game, DONT go support. You think its the easy one to learn, far from it. You need to keep your team alive, you need to micro a repair tank following armour but staying behind and not gettign in their way. You need to micro anti air possibly in 2 plays at once to stay with 2 fast moving armys most likely. A big tip if you do paly support, dont buy artilerly. All "noobs" do it and its genearly useless in comparison to the anti air you could have bought. (might i point out i also bought artilery). Fun to play with though :P

Infantry in my eyes is one of the funnest classes and is effective against almost all enermy vicheals one way or another (artilery can really ruin your day though, which is good when 1 suport guy just gets 1 artiry unit to supress a good infantry guy). Very versitle. The only class in the game that can stealth (in woods). Snipers can wreck havolk. Ambushes will give you a real buz when you take out 4/5 tanks who never saw it coming.

Also you can attack choppers as infantry in woods, they will have a very hard time hitting you and you can kill them easily.

Infantry are very powerful, problem is tehy take a while to move and capping points are extreamly vunrible. Also beware, the tactical powers are very effective against you and dont cost a lot.

Best class to laern with is probably armour. Air is fun also, a tip for killing infantry is to attack ground and fire your rockets at the clump.

Mayeb if you get it ill join you and make it 3v3 :p But ive not played in so long you can consider me nwe to the game again lol.

O also, when playing teh game switch between classes. It will prevenrt your oponent building up the counter to your units to much. Nothing wrong with switching to air support, whiping out your enermy due to having no counter to it because you wernt playing air before, then switching to tanks and steam rolling tehir points and they will have wasted time building anti air that no longer can attack you.

O coh is another really good game, i think its better then WIC personaly. But the patching is abysmal, its the only reason im not playing it at the moment. To many patchs for me to put on and one of them screwed up.

Company of Heroes? Can you do 2vs2 or 3vs2?

Indeed you can, though maps which would be more symetrical and balanced are limited more so in this but you can at least use AI which is reasonable.

Amazing game, epsiecaly if you get a good team youll have such a blast. a lot of micro management again but so fun :)

Check out some vidoes and reviews of both games. Gamtrailers usualy haev a good one.

Really need to know what kind of games you like. I mean totaly depends on your style:

Aoe3 (dont like it personaly, aoe2 was so much better)
COH
WIC
SupCom
Sins of solar empire
M2tw
Empier total war (think they ruined it personaly)
C&C3 (very fast game)

etc etc, im quite heavily into RTS.
