Hi all,

Going to be donating most of my rig to my old man as he's managed to fry his current rig specifically the gpu by knocking a can of coke over it

he'll be inheriting my 2500k build which is oc'd to 4.5ghz, ideally i'd give him my 290 but plan to hold onto it until pascal/arctic islands drop, so need some ideas for a cost effective gpu and psu to replace the dubious no brand box that came with his cheapo case

the machines used mainly for browsing but he likes playing WOT

the screen res is 1080p and he doesn't need masses of eye candy, but I'm stuck for ideas on a gpu ideally needs to be less than 100quid and i'm thinking of a 750ti but open to suggestions.

regarding the psu has anyone got ideas on wattage?

thanks in advance

Fritzo

i can play world of tanks and warships at 1080 on high with a gtx 750 so the ti version should do it better or even a 650ti i wouldve thought would to, what is the budget in mind?

I wouldn't dream of putting a 980Ti into this system! What I was trying to say is that you can power a 980Ti using a 550W PSU. 550W is ample for just about anything as long as the unit is decent.

Personally I'd probably just pop in a 750Ti, or the AMD equivalent. I'm assuming the R7 370 is equivalent to a 750Ti?

i think so, i was told the 360 is more close to the 750, so technically the 370 should be the 750ti, either way he cant go wrong even with a 650ti.

Cheers for the response fellas,

went with the 750ti in the end and a 450 watt gold rated super flower as they were both on offer. Planning on sticking it all in a new case with an old m4 ssd and surprise him, hopefully I haven't cut it too fine on the psu

its for my old man who's knocking on the door of 70 and literally the only computer game he has ever played is wot and comically isn't actually that bad at it

To put it in context he's been using my old c2d e8200 at stock with gtx 260 so I'm sure he'll be happy enough lol
