Hello,

Basically since the update from 2.0.6 -> 2.0.7 the game has been crashing.

I can be in game for an hour + with no crashes & all of a sudden it'll crash, and sometimes it crashes after a few minutes.

I have checked the temperatures of my PC, they are perfect.

My PC needed a reinstall of XP anyway, so I did that. It didn't help.

I have tried completely different RAM sticks and it still crashes so it's not my RAM.

I have tried deleting my interfaces, cache and WTF folder, that was no help.

I sent in a support email to Blizzard, but they just sent back some copy pasted stuff, most of which I have tried.

Here's the full error that is produced when the game crashes:

go to your wow folder, delete the patch, then go into the data folder, delete the patch.mqc (something like that, havnt got it installed atm), then go back and delete the wow.exe

after you have done all that, double click repair.exe

let it do its thang, and hopefully, when you run it again, it will reinstall the path (download first) and it might work after that.

let us know.

I'll try it, but I'm using exactly the same files as my brother (copied straight from his PC) and his is fine.

Thanks,
Craig.

I had this a while back... try under clocking your memory and i bet you it doesnt crash anymore.

When a new patch comes stick your mem back to normal speed and chances are it works fine again. Blizzard do some odd things with patches. :p

Just humor me and give it a try... from ddr400 to ddr333 or what ever you have.

I too had this problem with WoW once, with a much earlier patch. Eventually, slackening the RAM timings a little solved it; AtreuS speaks the truth - it's probably memory-related.

That would suck :(

This RAM is only PC2700 at the moment, not even sure that the motherboard has the option to underclock the memory :p

But, surely if it was a memory problem the the other different RAM I tried WoW with would have worked??

Craig.

Just got a whole new version (used CD to install and did 219mb update).

Crashed.

Disabled sound, played for about an hour and a half... crashed.

Argh!

My ram passed every test i could find at ddr400 speeds... and yet wow would crash. Nothing else did, no other games had any problem.

I left a memchecker on for an entire weekend while i was away and no errors.

Soon as i checked it down to ddr333 wow worked fine. A new patch came... i set it back to ddr400 and its been fine ever since. Dont even try to figue it out cos it drove me near insanity

Just put -opengl in the shortcut, might have worked, played for a good 2 hours with no crash. Hopefully it doesn't crash tomorrow either.

Craig.

I had this a few patches ago and it was memory related also, or rather lowering the speed of the memory solved it. Only WoW crashed, every other game and my OS was fine and passed all system checks etc.

I used to get that error when I had 2x1GB of DDR400 in my computer. I took one out and never had an error since. So go figure, but error 132 is usually attributed to memory problems.

Have you had any more problems then? I've been having a lot of issues with my pc freezing/crashing while playing WoW, but I'm convinced it's only crashing because it can't handle the load of the game crashing. What does the -opengl do?

The people who have suggested underclocking RAM, what would you put it down to? I've got 2*512 PC3200 in at the moment, and I have options to change the fsb to 200, 266 or 333 in my bios. Would 333 be low enough?

-opengl in the shortcut fixed the problem 100%.

Although the one problem with opengl is that it seems to run at a lower framerate so it may seem slightly laggy. Better than it crashing though ;)

I put it in my shortcut after you posted it yesterday and it was so laggy I couldn't move :(. Blah.
