This is driving me crazy. It's an excellent game but I have 2 major problems.

1) The game keeps crashing with errors like:

==============================================================================
World of WarCraft (build 5302)

Exe: C:\Games\World of Warcraft\WoW.exe
Time: May 12, 2006 8:40:15.468 PM
User: Ian Brown
Computer: IAN-94265BD6B9C
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This application has encountered a critical error:

ERROR #132 (0x85100084) Fatal Exception
Program: C:\Games\World of Warcraft\WoW.exe
Exception: 0xC0000005 (ACCESS_VIOLATION) at 001B:0070A3D8

The instruction at "0x0070A3D8" referenced memory at "0x000AFA4C".
The memory could not be "read".

WoWBuild: 5302
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And I really don't know why.

I thought t was my RAM, so I spent £150.00+ on new RAM, but the problem persists.

This can happen VERY frequently. Like every few minutes.

2) Patching is a nightmare. I usually have to re-instal the entire game, which can take several attempts.

Anybody else have these sorts of problems? If so, what did you do to cure it?

I've tried the WoW forums, but they are next to useless. I even tried contacting Blizzard Technical Support for help. That was several months ago now.

This is driving me crazy!!!

Auron; Thank you. I have tried to get some help from the Blizzard technical support but with no luck.

Tried their forums and contacting them direct from their web form. Recieved no reply from either. So far it's been 2 months.

Their technical support is about as much use as a one legged man in an ass kicking contest :)

Thanks anyway.

Ian.

Do you use a usb modem or a network card/router? if the latter try getting a cheap network card of a different chip type and using that. It fixed it for me when i had exactly the same problem.

Have you tried underclocking your RAM just to see if it stops the error?

Do you have a load of addons installed? Try disabling all of them, or upping the amount of memory allocated to them.

The best thing I can recommend is to upgrade to 2 gig (if you haven't already).

Try Different graphics card drivers.

That would be my first port of call as well. The game is very weird when it comes to drivers as half the nvidia beta ones invert the textures on mine but the official releases dont lol.

Well I've turned down my RAM timings and so far so good.

I expected to see a significant performance hit but I really can't tell the difference.

I hope this has cured the problem, but only time will tell.

Cheers

Ian.
