i have just got world of warcraft for my nephew. unfortunately it does not seem to work. i have it installed, but when he tries to play, it freezes on the first user license agreement if in full screen mode, or at the log in success window if not in full screen mode..(as in it will let you type in your user name and password, but then it just says success, and then freezes. the only button that does anything is escape, and this only closes the program).
are there any wow players out there who might have an idea as to what is going on.
the pc is running windows 7 and has 4 gig ram and a good enough spec to play lotro...
i am really confused as i have no idea about pc's really.

any hints would be GREATLY appreciated!

It can sometimes be buggy.

With me that happens occasionally when world servers are down but only then.

Sorry I cant be any more use than that

Lord of the rings online works fine on the pc.
its just world of warcraft.
he has set up an account and can play it on a friends pc,
it should be compatible. one of my friends has a similar spec pc and it works fine on his. i will try disabling the firewall etc to see if that is the problem

Locate the installation folder generally C:/Program Files/World of Warcraft/

And look for a file called Repair.exe . Run that and make sure your installation is working fine.

Then check your graphics drivers, make sure there up to date (which reminds me to check now :D )

Also don't under estimate this game in regards to graphical power, I've got a good machine (Q6600 @ 3.4, GTX280 and 4gb 8500 ram) and i cant boost it too much through programs like Nhancer or Nivida Control panel.

Start with very very basic graphics, log in and then start to change to match your system.

Off topic: Could i ask how old you nephew is? I was thinking about getting this game for my girlfriends step brother who is 8 and disabling the chat, just wondering if he'd be able to play the game.

my nephew is 10. i think it would be ok for an 8 year old. if you think he has the mind set to complete quests and follow a storyline sort of thing.

i have found out what was wrong.

i went into the options, and saw that the resolution was like really low. i changed it to what i usually have for games and now it works perfectly.

thus it was the resolution settings, unless it was just a fluke!

hazzah! there are so many threads on random sights of people having this problem and no one has used this solve. am i a genius or what!
:D
