is this game any good do you need to know lots of ppl to beat the quests and that as im thinking of getting it but i don't know any one that plays it. also how hard is it?

It's the worlds most popular game.

Its easy.

Try one of the myriad of World of Warcraft threads already here.

Download the free trial...you can easily solo to 80, if you have 1 other friend then coupling up makes it a bit less of a trawl but if you take your time and explore every quest etc its an awesome game

Don't need friends either as you can meet random people who want to do the same dungeons and quests as you.

The game itself is good, the general community ...well, thats perhaps a different matter.

You dont need to know anybody else to beat quests as its virtually doable by yourself.

The games good if you havnt done other MMOs (will have a stink of familiarity if you have). There is a very very dedicated community which is great with all the mods, solutions and chat about specs and classes (used to theory craft quite a lot with some folk and was a nice break in between stuff) but that has been overshadowed by a huge majority of idots and people who dont seem to own a mouse in the last couple years.

Theres loads to do to peak your interest from leveling in different zones, dungeons, arena, world pvp, professions, mounts, achievments and many other things but if you get the hang of it (i.e. dont think a melee mage is a good idea for dps) then dont expect to be too taxed by the difficulty which is fairly low until you get up to the very very top end of some hard modes (what a cope out they were...).

I dont play anymore myself but theres an expansion thats merely days away so now would probly be as good a time as any to start and get to grips with the game so you can levelwith everyone else and not start from the back of the pack. Be prepared to invest a lot of time into this game if you want to achieve all the major things and beat the main bosses, it is a massive time sink.

It's the worlds most popular MMO, a far stretch from worlds most popular game though. I'm pretty sure Black Ops currently holds that title.

Wrong for 1 month black ops. Over all wow is one of the most popular games ever.

Back on to op tho:

With the shattering thats happened this month all of the old worlds have been redesigned - quests redone ect. Loads of people are rolling alts to see all of the new content, tbh its never been a better time to start playing - its likea whole new game again, just u know how to play it for all of us old skool players.

If you've ever played any other mmo before, your come into wow and see things you reconise from them, as all MMO's have come from wow. wanting to be it.

As others have said, it's easy to 'solo' (I have done since the beginning) but of course is even more fun if you have friends to play with.

With the recent patch ready for the expansion, there's hardly any 'downtime' at all, and loads of interesting content. The only real problem is that if your time is limited, you'll find yourself making excuses to play it :D

It's not quite as popular as Farmville, but it's actually a decent game ;)

Perhaps I am simply reading that wrong, but thats an odd thing to say. I would have thought its the other way around, WoW copied from all other MMOs rather than all MMOs have come from WoW. (though is still lacking many of the features that previous MMOs have had)

If you are starting from scratch you can always join the new guild that has been formed by members here.

you can easily play 90% of the game on your own and if you wanted to group up for some of the dungeons then its quite simple to do aswell. only thing you would need a guild for is raiding the raid dungeons (needs proper organisation and the same people every time each week)
there is a OCUK re-roll guild thats just started, Deadbeat above has linked to it. you coudl always come and join

I think it's 6 of one and half a dozen of the other.

I think WoW copied what came before hand, and imo, got it spot on, does everything well if not the best out there on the current maket.

I think most games since WoW have tried to copy it's style and ... they just don't do it as well.

It's easy to get into, difficult to master. You don't need to know lots of people but it's a much better game if you join a guild with like minded people as yourself and make friends in game.
