Held by Amanda Coker. Must be one of the few physical challenges that a woman has beaten a man at. I can almost hardly believe that she cycled 237 miles a day for 365 days with a 302 mile leg on the second last day to clock up 86k miled. Truely some feat.

I couldn't cycle 237 miles in any day.

What would it take to do something like that, in your genes or all training?

Men are faster at shorter races where strength and outright power play a bigger part. In longer races where it's all about endurance, women are at least equal (if not better).

Lael wilcox is another example. She has won the Trans America race (not the same race as RAAM) and the Tour Divide whilst racing against mostly men.

Was she the one basically doing endless loops of an oval track? or park or something similar? So even after the 237 daily miles, she only climbed like 50ft

I'm not saying it's not an amazing achievement, but I think what's more astonishing is the fact she hasn't gone mad!

Tommy Godwin did over 75k miles riding thirties technology on roads during the world war 2 blackout. He then carried on til the following May to get the fastest ever 100000 miles. After that, he got off his bike, learned to walk properly again and went off to fight in the war.

A mite more impressive than riding a TT bike round in circles....

That’s was the male 24 hour record. Her route was a 7 mile our ride route. I don’t care about the route to be fair - I’ve done 4 metric centuries on consecutive days and it broke me
