I'm currently wondering how i could go about having i suppose a mobile broadband package (such as 3) and use it in USA/EU/Africa or hopefully most countries. I know the 3 network is in most countries but i cant really find much regarding if data allowance (i.e. that 1-3GB) is included throughout all 3 networks regardless of country or whether its UK only...

Its only for using msn and emails when im away to sea but in port, so i cant even comment on where im going to work out charges/coverage.

Any recommendations? ideally it needs to cost less than £10-15 per month as i believe i could get onboard email for $20 from the last time i went to see.

Regards,
Stephen

It will be UK only.

You would need data roaming on your account to use it in another country as you would be connecting to a different provider when you are out of the UK.

Best bet is to give them a ring,

Any international data charge is going to be expensive though - what a colleague of mine did was to purchase a PAYG simcard locally in whatever port/country he was in at the time.

International data is likely to be charged per megabyte, depending how much you use it, it may work out ok for you.

hmm looking at the costs £3.00/MB its not sounding cheap, i think i may just have to work out another method, reason i mentioned like a USB dongle is that i wont always get to go ashore due maybe only being in port for 4-5 hours... so they wont give the crew a shore pass perhaps. So i thought that if i have the dongle i could go out on deck and use the web from there for a good 30 mins. but at the price it would cost me :( i dunno.
