Worm developed for Apple OS OMWTF!!!!!

ANNOYED AT Apple fanboy smugness, an anonymous independent insecurity expert has developed a worm for the Apple OSX.

The bloke, who goes by the handle of "Information Security Sellout" has developed a worm that targets an unknown vulnerability affecting OSX.

In his bog, Information Security Sellout claimed that his proof-of-concept worm could gain root access. His worm was based on a variation of mDNSResponder vulnerabilities that Apple had previously patched.

He had also tested it on a network of approximately 1,500 OS X systems.

His version, called "Rape", only snuffles in a LAN, but he says it would not take much extra work for the worm to attack down the Internet tubes.

When his research is finished he says he will give it to Apple to have a look at. However looking at the comments in his bog it appears his actions have caused a crisis of faith among Apple fanboys. There are the usual death threats but what is sad is that many of them are completely convinced that a worm in an Apple is impossible.

One fanboy issued his own fatwa for daring to contradict the myth that Apple is impervious to worms. As he eloquently put told the hacker: "I dare you to demonstrate this at Defcon you faggot Microsoftie. We will drag you out, put a bullet in you, and bury your body so deep it will take a nuclear blast to find your body."

Reminds me of the mail I got after the last Apple story I wrote.

what will ever happen to the adds now

If you can keep track of the bad TV movie / high school drama that the OS X worm saga has become, hats off to you. In the latest round of confusing doublespeak from the underbelly of the security world, a few key players are (possibly) taking turns swapping identities -- and trading death threats. In the latest installment, Jon Ramsey is Infosec Sellout, David Maynor is LMH, anonymous commenters are promising to "put a bullet in your head for this!" and a spooky legion of "black hat" hackers known as the "Phrack High Council," (or PHC) are doing their best Freemasons impersonation. Now, with the Infosec site deletions, and Dave Maynor's supposed self-outing, calls being issued for the worm to be proven in the wild are increasingly mixed with the literal cries of bloody murder -- all over what can best be described as the lamest hoax for the biggest nerds in internet history. Check out the Computerworld article for some... insight?
