was really excited when i saw this was in development, being the first game i bought for my first console (psx, okay i did have a gb for years but meh), and took the time to read the comments on IGN from the developers...

only to find out they have not included wifi multiplayer over internet??!

are they ******* stupid or what? i would only play worms multiplayer, unfortunately no-one i know has got a ds, nor are they likely to buy one...thus i was banking on internet multiplay?

"Team 17: Yes we did think of taking it fully online. However, the time we had to develop the game and the time it would have taken to ensure that this worked correctly didn't match"

more like the $$$ did not match.. load of ***** if u ask me. not happy with that

Worms was crying out for wi-fi-ness !!!
I'll e-mail my chum at Team-17 and find out the real reason if you like ?
:)

Still, who cares ?
We're all gonna become reclusive hermit outcasts when Tetris DS gets released :D

lol email away, i was hinestly drooling at the prospect of online worms...

in todays console market, how can they not bring games out wiht the full host of online player modes?

i do remember link cable 2player tetris from school, tres cool!

Taken from Worm Developer Interview:

IGN: What was the most difficult aspect of getting Worms: Open Warfare running on the Nintendo DS platform?

Team 17: It was probably the wi-fi multiplayer aspects. Initially, the game was up and running fairly early over the wi-fi in a fairly stable state, but getting it to final master quality took an awfully long time.

IGN: Was there any thought to putting Worms: Open Warfare online using the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service?

Team 17: Yes we did think of taking it fully online. However, the time we had to develop the game and the time it would have taken to ensure that this worked correctly didn't match. There were also a lot of unknowns in this area when we started developing the game, which also added to the decision to make it local area only.

aye tahts what i quoted at the top of the thread...

it sucks they charge full whack for a game (30 squid) and dont even bother putting multiplayer elements in its a joke tbh

well, the reviews are out. IGN gave it a distinctly average 6.0 out of 10 (and ina day and age where any old half cobbled together gets decent ratings thats quite bad tbh

ill rip fht closing comments for you

"Closing Comments
Warts and all, Worms: Open Warfare admittedly isn't all that terrible. It's just a letdown to see a really weak presentation for the Nintendo DS version. The PSP group - internal Team 17 developers - clearly had a lot more interest and fun working on its rendition of Worms, because this DS game, while holding some of the original's charm, looks like it was handled by a weekend port crew."

its alright, its nothing you havent seen before though, its like going back to the original worms which can be seen a plus but, I spent so long at the time playing it that its a bit easy to see through it as a tarted up gorillas. The maps arent as big as they nornally are either. But that said its got solid presenation, 4 player multi cart and uses the touch screen how you would want it to.

id give it 5/10 (average). The mission mode which seemed pretty convicing in the later games has returned back to being just about playing computer teams that get harder. Also its annoying that the cpu is incapable of having a personality eg wants to defend itself/goes for pick ups a lot etc. They all seem to behave the same, just have better accuaracy for tougher opponents. This gets completely out of control when a cpu player lobs a grenade across the entire map using the wind perfecntly into your little cubby hole.

If its available for £15 brand new, im buying it. :p
My mate brought it into work last Friday and i was impressed with it.
Not groundbreaking. Nothing new. Slightly awkward control system.
But a good laugh nonetheless.
