I was getting severe pain in the shins about half mile into the run for about two months, causing me to cut the run short. No problems for last 12 months prior to that, running around 40 miles/week. Thought it was due to not taking enough calories but that didn't help. Turned out my shoes were worn out but they didn't look it.
