ive disabled speedstep in the bios, but why is my cpu speed lower than it should be?

I have the same thing with an E8400, and ive disabled everything in the BIOS, it didnt happen with the E6750 i had in before

Your multiplier is x6. Change it to x8.5 :) (I think thats what it is for Q9550's anyway)
333 x 6 = 2000mhz
333 x 8.5 = 2 830.5mhz :D

As poster above says set it to (8.5x Multiplier)
check the voltages also as well as multiplier. i have a Q9550 and voltages are 1.31 if i remember correctly. might be abit lower as i have tweaked mine a lot a while ago.

If that fails
Try upping the voltage and Multiplier bit by bit untill you get a stable accurate read.

Another thing to check if your running Vista double check the power options, in the past this has cought me out.

There isnt a single stock voltage, it varies by batch to batch, run coretemp it will tell you your chips Vid, thats your stock voltage to be running at - dont forget to allow for vdroop though

it was something called cpu ratio, but fixed it so its running at stock speeds. now to get clocking.

asus probe is showing cpu as 29 at idle for temp, guess thats good?
