Hi guys, so yea I have a i7 2600k processor at stock(3.4ghz) and i'm planning to upgrade my graphic card to gtx 970. so my question is will my cpu get bottleneck to these new graphic cards running in to new demanding games today. (or vice versa)

im newbie in this kind of thing so i dont really know about the causes of bottneck issues.

btw im running this in 1080p monitor at 120hz

OC to about 4ghz or so and you should be grand. I've taken to running the system in sig at stock and don't see any issues in games. Much cooler running too.

That board has some preset overclock profiles already in the BIOS if I remember correctly (4, 4.2, 4.4 etc)

Try one.

I don't think my board have those profiles, I tried overclocking my cpu manually before and didnt notice those profiles, and just sorted out for a stock clock. It only has this turbo mode that will set your clock to 3.8ghz setting or stuff i think i cant remember properly.

That might have been it "turbo" but with 4 settings I thought.

It doesnt really matter as its a popular board and a quick google search brings up many overclocking guides for it in written form or Youtube videos.

ohh i see, im gonna check it later when my new graphic card arrives and installed it.

well yea, Im looking up at the web and found some good tutorial on how to overclock sandybridge cpu. I guess it would be better if I do it manually

anyway thanks a lot stulid!

Considering the difference between sandy bridge and haswell is 10% AT BEST. Anything that is sandy bridge or over is basically the same thing. In fact sandy is better since it doesn't have the tooth paste in between the IHS and the die so you can get better overclocks. Wish I didn't sell my 2500k to "upgrade" to a 4670k....
