worried over temps....

hi

I'm pretty new to overclocking & I've been checking out the core temps ( coretemp 0.99.4 ) and the idle temps seem a little bit strange to me....

core 1 - 38 +/-2%
core 2 - 38
core 3 - 35
core 4 - 35

Temps are in idle in vista with Over clock to 3.4 on G0 Q6600

core temps VID 1.325 Although set to 1.375 in bios CPU-Z says running at 1.336

these seem too high for idle / internet surfing although the room temp is approx 25 degrees.

I'm running a Q6600 on a MSI NERO2 mother board with 4gig of OCZ REAPER ram. This is all sitting in an ACooler Master cosmos S with 5 120mm fans, 1 230mm fan and the 120mm cup fan on the alaska evo blue cooler.

So anyone know whats up with the temps at all or if you think I should resit heatsink ect ?

Any help would be much appreciated

Thanks,

use realtemp to see if the sensors are stuck at all. Do the temperatures even out on full load and what are the temps like on load? If the sensors seem ok and you get uneven temps on load i would reseat the heatsink.

is there any reason that idle is so high or is it due to the room temp?

also if anyone has a cosmos s caser do they find it really noisy????

but i think it may be the alaska evo blue cpu cooler running on max all the time.

not too bad if room is 25, but dont worry too much about the idle temps to start with, run the system under load and see what sort of load temps u get.

Temps seem ok for the room temp the variation in your core temps is quite common for example 2 cores on mine are 4'c different from the other 2 even after lapping.

Whats wrong with those temps? They are a lot lower than mine were after install. Ive upped my overclock from 3ghz to 3.6ghz with my Q6600 and now my thermal paste has curred my temps a lower now than they were at 3ghz. Idle around 38-39c under a tuniq tower on full load. Its in a reasonably hot room.
