I have built a HTPC based on the MSI K9A2GM-FIH board (AMD® 780G) an LG GGC-H20L Blu-Ray Reader and ATI 4350 graphics card. HDMI into 37" Sony.
In it I have a used a 2nd hand, Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 5600 2.90GHz, (which I can buy for £30) Cooling is a Scythe Shuriken and A\S.
Accurate core temp readings are hard to get (apparently some AMD prob with Brisbane cores) Idle is about 29/30 but Orthos sticks it up to 70.
Would I be better buying the lower watt Athlon 64 X2 4850e 2.5GHz £50 or stick with the 5600+ and not worry about temps?
Or any other suggestions.
It is only for film playback, (file and disc) and internet.
