Worrying Temps?

I have an i7 920 OC'd to 3.4Ghz, and also a corsair H50...Under the OCCT test with a large load, it is running at almost 70 Degrees, and idle, about 48-52. Ive heared that people have used this cooler on i7's @ 4.0Ghz, and had idles of 20 Degrees, and loads of 40.

-Is this a big problem?
-Is my liquid cooling not working?
-Do I need a new cooler?
-Is it a fault on my CPU?

Any help would be much apreciated, thnx in advance.

I dont know a huge amount about the H50 but i presume it doesnt come with any fans. Which fan(s) are you using to cool it? are they running @ full power or undervolted?

Edit: Have those temps stayed the same since you have had it or have you just recently noticed them? The weather can have a huge effect on it. My idle temps had a difference of about 3 degrees between yesterday and today.

70c Load (presumably full load) is fine. 50c+ on idle is a bit odd, but still nothing to really worry about.

Might be a good idea to check the seating of the h50 and maybe wipe and reapply thermal paste. 70c load is fine but your idles could be lower

He hasn't stated the exactly cooling setup so judging if the temperatures are representative is impossible. If the H50 is running only the stock fan for example, and there's maybe only one intake, it's probably not far off. There's no indication of voltage either.

Your idle temps will run hotter, depending what kind of speed your fan is running at when your cpu idle.

When i had my i7 920 clocked to 4Ghz idle temps were around 46c because my fan was only running at around 1000rpm.

Don't forget i7's are hot cpu's to begin with people with much lower idle temps are ususally running there fans at higher speeds.

OK well thnx for all the replies, i got it pre OC'd when i bought it, and havent fiddled with any of the hardware (yet), i recently removed the speed stepping, when i noticed crashes etc. and the temps went up a lot. I do have hyperthreading on if that is relevant. I just asked for the i7 to be OC'd, and to have it built with the H50. so your tellng me that i want a fan on top of that?

I have the HAF32, so ive got 3 badass fans on it, i read that i may need to change the way in which they cause the air to flow...

any suggestion?

Under Full load my CPU hit 80 and then OCCT(Linpack) cut it...there has to be a problem here

Did you buy it from OcUK? . . . if so you may need to contact them directly if the machine isn't stable!

ok, ijust dusted my case and idles are now much better - 35-39.
They built it, and the cable managment is very good, and i was wrong about the airflow, its fine. Ima run the linpack now and post.
