I don't know if anyone else has spotted this trend lately and honestly its pretty worrying and dangerous. So what am I talking about? People with mobility scooters using them like cars. I am seeing several people on a daily basis taking children to school on them. There is even one silly woman that I have seen at least 10 times with 4... YES 4 children and her on the flipping thing! Surely there should be some sort of instruction when people are using these things that they can be fined/charged if using them with more than one person on board.

I haven't seen anything like that down here in Bracknell yet. That's crazy, not mention dangerous. I do know you can be registered legally blind and drive one. When my grandfather had a scooter we enquired because he was basically blind. We were somewhat surprised at the answer we got...

To be fair there are plenty of people with a genuine need for such things (e.g. my neighbour got one after a heart attack and he's all skin and bones). I find it really hard not to think of the south park ep whenever I see an overweight person on a scooter though.

LOL bum.. Can someone please move to motors?

I don't object to anyone having them to get around with as long as they don't take the mick. And driving along the pavement or the road with a kid/kids that have no safety device is taking the mick to a dangerous level.

Having lived here for 2 and a half years, it's actually a lot better here than I thought it would be. Then again I did live in Aldershot for 2 years...

Seen a few driving "fast" down the pavement, the driver completely ignorant of people walking. When I say fast, I mean mobility scooter fast of course. The should be limited, what do disabled people have to get to faster than I do?! :p

When I used to work in a supermarket there was this guy who would come in every Thursday with the scooter in 'road mode' which was far too fast for a busy supermarket, he'd go full speed around corners, accident waiting to happen.

I absolutely agree. I use one myself due to a degenerative bone disease. It leaves me unable to carry anything and barely able to walk. It's hard enough to avoid my shopping from falling off it let alone carrying kids on it. I have ridden motorcycles most of my life but can't anymore and that means I have a heightened awareness of my surroundings and other people. I do think there should be some sort of test or assessment though for any scooter that can go faster than walking speed though. I wish my one would go faster though :-)

I type slower than i walk lol. I was searching to see if anyone had any tech suggestions I could do to improve my mobility scooters performance.
