Worrying warning tone?

After I've been playing something intense (Vanguard, Supreme Commander) I sometimes get this sounds coming from the desktop, sounds like it's coming from the back. It's quite loud and lasts less than a second. Like some kind of warning tone.

My thoughts are it's either the PSU (I have an Enermax 850) or it's the BFG 8800GTX.

The 8800 get's to around 70 degrees c at full load, do you think this is the problem?

Speedfan tells me my CPU doesn't get over 49 degrees under load.

This warning happened before I started overclocking.

I have:

evga 680i
e6600 clocked to over 3GHz.
Corsair 2GB 8500

Let me know what you think! When it happens I tend to alt tab to minimise the game to let stuff cool down just in case!

Thanks!

I use a sound card but at the moment I only have headphones plugged in. The sound does not come through the headphones, it sounds like it's coming from the back of the PC.

Thanks for any help!

Update: sometimes it's a single beep, sometimes it a beep followed closely by another. Vanguard seems the worst offender, which is a really graphically intensive game,

Your 8800gtx is fine up to 115 according to Nvidia, 70's absolutely fine. I had pretty much an identical setup to you and I was getting warning beeps, in my case it was the Galaxy PSU. If you do a search there's a thread on OCUK about the galaxy doing it, sorry to be non-specific but it was a while ago. :D. For some people it was when certain cables were plugged into certain sockets...for me, however, it was the fan fail warning, (3 beeps). Coolermaster RMAed it very quickly when I contacted them and the replacement was perfect. Hope this helps.
