Worst car you've ever driven

worst car i've driven had to be my old astra

For all those who claim the worst car they have ever driven is one they own - why did you buy it? There is rarely a situation where you are forced to buy an awful car. Even if you've got a few hundred quid tops for a car you can buy a car which, whilst old, was never poor.

Do people just do no research/test drives/put no thought into car purchases?

Both truly suck and the A class doesn't deserve a Mercedes badge.

Agreed. I drove an autobox A140 Avante Garde and it was terrible. I didn't expect Ferrari Testarossa performance or handling but it was crap to drive compared to the competition.
Redeeming features was the space in the cabin and the better build quality over its rivals.

Volvo 240 (yes, this was a long time ago). All the controls had no feeling of any kind, as if everything was connected with elastic bands.

M

Ford Focus 1.6.

Absolutely godawful and not a single redeeming thing about it. Never felt more happier to have reached my destination and be shod of it. Felt absolutely sick to be driving it if I'm honest, really vitriolic about that one for some reason!

2cv, like sitting in a mechano car, actually felt like it was gonna fall to bits... and the handling, probably unique suspension setup in motoring world, and you can see why

hitler had the things built ?, design slightly dated

I bought my current drive on a whume as I needed a car in a hurry when the A4 went bang.

A mate was selling a Mk III Mondeo and I did no research on them and bought it.

I have had it 2 years now and truth be told I am not in a hurry to get rid of it although research should always be done.

Saying that, I am looking for a decent estate car for the bairns pram and my kit as I play in a band but I am quite happy with my current drive.

i brought the car because I crash my first car into a crub and ripped the left hand front wheel off , bent the drive shaft. I only brought the car for £75 so wasnt worth fixing was a ok car for the money. I needed a car for work so this one came up. From the outside it looked fine engine seemed ok but after 3 month it started burning oil i had it for a year but due to work I was doing 100 mile a day so that didn't help then I was given a work van so could save for a better car.

Car list
mk 2 astra 2 years
mk3 astra 1 years
honda civic crx vti 3 years
subaru impreza 3 years

Perodua Nippa

0.8l 3 cylinder - 48bhp - vmax 80mph
0-60- >30s

Was actually pretty fun. It only weighed 700kg, and the 3cyl engine was revvy.

Ran on CNG and had no powersteering. Probbably around 40bhp.

Truely dreadful,

VW Polo, it was a 1.0 IIRC (51 plate). Woeful and actually dangerous it had so little power.

I had one the other week when the leon was in for a service. It was doing around 4k rpm at 70 and to overtake anything you had to make sure there was nothing within half a mile behind to allow enough space to pick up some speed!

Well the one car thats coming up more than any other seems to be the Corsa - unsurprisingly so and I'd probably have to agree.

I think people buy crap cars because they dont know any better at the time - just look at the number of Corsa threads we've had around here because 17 year old think they're wickid, innit.

The worst car I've driven is probabaly my 1.2 Punto, but it was given to me for free and I could actually insure it when I was 18. It was slow and had a cheap interior. I've had an astra and an MR2 since then, and also driven newish mondeo & leguna and then there's the golf and focus I learnt to drive in. Punto was IMO the worst of the bunch but it did what I needed and I couldn't really fault it.

Citoren Picasso 1.6 - ugly looking, felt cheap and felt that if you hit a tin can then it would destroy itself.

It was quite quick but I hated it.
