Last year I was round my best mates and another friend of his was visiting from poland. Said friend bought with him lots of strong polish vodka. I then proceeded to drink more than half a bottle of the stuff. This wasn't a small bottle either, it was one of the big litre ones.
At about 2am I ended up crawling to bed as I had completely forgotten how to walk and then lay there for an hour while the room span around me before I managed to fall asleep.
At 2pm the next day I woke up with my head in absolutely agony. I couldn't move at all, as even the smallest shuffle or attempt to sit up would result in the room spinning and me having to stop myself vomming all over the bed.
I lay there, awake, in agony, completely still and moaning until 7pm which was when I finally made myself get up and go and have some water and eat something. Another hour later, and I was back in bed and straight back to sleep.
The day after, I was still feeling pretty damn rough and I was thankful I had that day off too and again spent the day grimacing at every noise that was made within my vicinity and just sat and watched tv in my dressing gown all day.
The day after that (so 3 days later now) I had to go to work, and the effects were finally wearing off and I was getting back to normal. Didn't stop me having to go to bed at 8pm instead of my usual 11pm/midnight bed time.
So it took 3 full days for the effects to wear off completely.
That was the first and the last time I had ever drunk that much. Going near spirits now makes me want to hurl and I can't stand the smell or taste of them any more.
Stuck on cider, wine and beer from now on.
Disclaimer: I get drunk very rarely, once every 3/4 months at most so handling drink isn't a strong point of mine if any of you are scoffing at the idea of half a bottle of vodka reducing me to a near death state.
