Worst put together rig ever?

I am naming no names, but a gaming mate of mine has just put this together. He only told me after it had been built. This is for BF3.

1. 6 core Bulldozer.
2. Crosshair V mobo.
3. 16 GB RAM.
4. 1 gb Nvidia 560ti.
5. Old Nvidia card being used for PhysX (BF3 does not support this).

What do you reckon. £600 well spent? :D
 
I don't get how this is supposed to be the "worst" put together rig :confused:. Sure 8GB of RAM is enough and for a similar price a 2500k would likely have been better but it's a lot better than buying a pre-built from Dell.

At this moment in time it would be hard to make worse choices than those. It is better than a Dell for sure, but he built it himself. I darenot ask about the PSU but will find out later.

Bulldozer worse than Phenom II.
6 cores for BF3 will do nothing over 4
16GB of RAM is crazy overkill.
1GB 560ti when everything points to needing 2gb cards.
BF3 does not support Physx.
Crosshair V mobo. £190 mobo when no overclocking is taking place?

A sweet SB setup with 8GB and far superior card can be had for less.

Just highlighting poor choices. I know that he is not made of money either and I am just amazed he did not ask for any of our advice. Our clan all have self-built machines and generally talk tech stuff when we game every night.

No its not. Its money spent in all the wrong places. happy, yes. Money well spent? Nope

Poor Guy, Thats the problem without researching a build properly. I spend quite a while researching my builds, Right down to the Air flow of the fans I use.

BF3 specific rig and a 1GB card is his main downfall, 16gb ram is a shame too, as 8gb would have given him funds for other parts of the system.

Basically, He jumped head first into a purchase, Which isnt smart.
 
i just spec'd a £1000 rig for a friend and he emails me from his new computer...

he has gone out and spent a grand on a toshiba tablet computer :rolleyes::mad::rolleyes::mad::rolleyes::mad:
