Ive had my current build for a few years now i5 3570k with 8gb & an AMD 7800 2gb gfx card and everything runs well still.

However is it worth pushing the boat out for a gtx 970? I dont think i've ever spent so much on a gfx card as im more of a casual gamer but with the division promotion thats currently on it has kind of got me thinking. Any thoughts/advice?

It would be a big step up from a 7850/70 but if everything you play is running well for you as is i wouldn't bother. Better off waiting until something you play struggles on your current card as there may be even better choices out at that time, if that's The Division then so be it but it might not be.

The division beta ran no lower than 37 fps on medium. My friend has a similar spec PC but with the gtx970 & was gettting a solid 60fps+ which kind of got me thinking about it along with the deal thats on.

Like you say maybe worth holding off for the next batch of cards when things do start to struggle perhaps.

What games do you play and at what resolution? A 970 is a huge upgrade over the 7800 series, and certainly wouldn't go to waste if you're planning on playing The Division. Whether it's worth it or not for you depends on how long you're planning on keeping the graphics card for and on how much gaming you actually do.

I usually play stuff like diablo3, world of tanks, elite oh & I did pick up Ark with the humble deal. I've had this setup for about the 3yrs & think the cpu is ok for what I need.

A few months ago I tried ARK and it ran worse on my GTX960 4GB than my mates R9 280 3GB which is technically slower! :(

Unless you are in a big rush I would probably wait for Polaris and Pascal which should be released in the summer.
