Worth an upgrade?

Thanks guys for the advice.
I've never really overclocked the 3570k as I have very little experience in overclocking. I do have a Be Quiet! Pure Rock cooler.

I would definitely recommend giving it a try - games like CS:GO especially really benefit from faster single core performance.

There's plenty of guides kicking around and as long as you time your time, and increase the multiplier/ vcore in small increments you really haven't got much to lose!

I had a 3570k also, it was fine for games but has become fairly weak for other uses. From the 980 upgrading to a 1070ti should be a decent improvement. Next round of GPUs are probably 6-7 months away if you can wait that long.
