Hi,

I have the Noctua NH-U12P in an Obsidian 55D cooling a 3570k stock.
I have oced in the past and reached 4,2 quite easy but didn't notice ant real performance gains. Now I am thinking to replace the case with mATX one and noise and size may be an issue.

The case I am thinking is the Lian-Li PC-V355. Which the most silent cooler for this one? Is it worth paying for it and not keeping the Noctua?

thx

Because of the layout of that case you won't be able to keep your U12P anyway, it only supports cooler upto 100mm tall, the U12P is taller than that..

Maybe look at these:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Noctua NH-L12 CPU Cooler £44.99
1 x Thermalright AXP-100 ITX & HTPC CPU Cooler £39.95
1 x Noctua NH-L9i CPU Cooler Low Profile - 92mm £34.99
1 x Cooler Master GeminII M4 Low Profile CPU Cooler £22.99
Total : £154.32 (includes shipping : £9.50).

The L12 or AXP-100 would be my choice.

Or you can get a small case which will fit your cooler:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Silverstone Fortress FT03 Tower Case - Black (SST-FT03B) £124.99
1 x Silverstone SST-SG10B Sugo SG10 USB3.0 - Black £109.94
1 x Corsair Obsidian 350D Micro ATX Case - Black £89.99
1 x Silverstone TemJin TJ08B-E Midi Tower Case - Black (SST-TJ08B-E USB 3.0) £83.99
1 x BitFenix Phenom MATX Cube Case - Midnight Black £74.95
1 x BitFenix Prodigy M MATX Cube Case - Midnight Black £74.95
Total : £598.30 (includes shipping : £32.90).

The bitfenix's are pre-orders..

All of those case would be good choices IMO.

I'm using an AXP-100 and it is very impressive.
The new BitFenix Prodigy M is a very nice case and supports bigger coolers.

Thank you for the detailed info!!

Apart from the PC-V355 I am also looking the SG10 and the Phenom, but there are some disadvantages...
the SG10 needs a special slot loading optical drive (around 70€)
the Phenom cannot even take an optical drive

This is why I am leaning towards the 355
