Ok, firstly, im not the biggest gamer...I dont really play FPS, but other games I do...I put two 6800 gts in my new system, in SLI

Do you guys think they are worth getting rid of, and sticking something fresh in, maybe just a one card alternative?

i have 2 or these also and can play the likes of fear, oblivion and battlefield on max settings just fine so unless you had a problem with playing a game i would just keep them and save the cash

If you can sell your two 6800GTs for a decent price, or if they're new enough to send back for a refund, grab a single card instead. The X1900XT is only £260 at the moment, if you can get your budget up that high then it's an unbeatable buy, alternatively the X1800XT and 7900GT are great buys too.

But I mean is it worth it do you reckon for someone who isnt a big gamer?

Ive never had a problem witrh any game so far
If you're happy with the performance you have now then I wouldn't worry about it. Two 6800GTs is still a nice setup.

Why did you get 2 x 6800GT's in the first place if your not a gamer, are there other apps you run that heed this horse power?

but not knowing tooo much about the GFX side of things, didnt know if looking back now I had made the wrong deicision, but looks like I have made the right one....another thing though....is there anyway to check my cards are actually working in SLI? and it isnt just one card working?

Turn on the load balancing then run a game, you see bars on the screen showing the load split between the 2x cards i think, which you can see the option for in the above screen. :D

Lol, i just cant resist finding an excuse to open up my rig n play about... Pah who needs software! :)

I know what you mean, I found a nice excuse to crack it open earlier. "That SATA cable is not right, i'll change it" Also needed to sort out the sound for the front panel, ofc I needed to take out the TV card to do that too. :)

If there is a green arrowy box thingy to the left of the window, click it. If not, I'm not sure, depends what drivers you're using, if you're using the 91 it'll be in a completely different place.
