Before you all start i know its worth getting :) My question is would it be worth it in my poorly shapen living room?

I currently have some rubbish Wharfedale 2.1 speakers and a sub, which i got as cash was low and tv sound was shocking, so needed something to stop the torture and vibrations.

The room is a combined kitchen/living room which ive drawn below for your reference, there isnt really any options with regards to moving the TV due to messy cables and the Sky cable is only about 30cm long

Do you think i would be better off sticking with 2.1 and upgrading to a reasonable setup, or take the plunge and go 5.1?

Any thoughts or recommendations would be greatly appreciated, thanks :)

Edit - Im new to home cinema so go easy if this is a silly question!

I think it could be worth it, or even 4.1 as the shape is weird so the two LR fronts will be quite close together. AV amps have an option to create a 'phantom centre' by downmixing the centre channel into both the Left and the Right channel, as well as their own content.

Thanks for your thoughts :) Where would you put the rear speakers then if it were your house? Im thinking one in the bottom left corner and one in the top right, or would anyone suggest otherwise?
