Hi all, I've got an opportunity to have my mate's old 360 (he's gone and bought another one) for free. It has a blown power supply and has had to have the motherboard resoldered for the RROD crash before. There's no warranty and since it's free I'm not particularly worried if I totally brick it as I mainly game on my pc and ps3; it would just be for the sake of having both consoles. Would you helpful folks say it's worth getting and fixing it?

Nah no point getting it, a re-soldered motherboard.. The thing is a time bomb waiting to go off.

I have resoldered motherboards before, it is never the same there's a potencial flaw in his model of Xbox, older generation GPU.

Not worth the stress, trust me.

I'd take it, even if its to throw it out of the window to watch it smash up into a thousand pieces..

IT'S FREE !

Get it mate, resoldered motherboards arent as bad as all that. Its a toss up with all 360s. Not resoldered ones specifically.

I've done 3 reflows, only 1 of which has needed a second reflow. All of which are running still.

For free and a PSU purchase its worth it without a second doubt

Ring MS, when my PSU died they replaced it for free, even though it was out of warranty and they knew it was out of warranty since they checked.

I have an old model with a resoldered motherboard and it's been fine for around a year and a half. Quick tip is to just have a break every 3 hours just for safety.
