I'm currently running my Dreamcast through an RGB scart on my HDTV so I'm guessing its running in 575i at 50Hz and 480i at 60Hz. After twiddling with the settings a little the picture is rather good. Would it be worth getting a VGA box to run in 480p?

It does run 480p very nicely through the vga box. But my monitors are bigger & better than my telly. Where you are already using a good tv & connection.

Well, I have a poor telly but a good monitor. I find the VGA looks far superior, but then it would, wouldn't it. I'd pick up a box and see which one looks best. I think VGA will tho tbh.

im in this position aswell but ive decided its not worth the money, some games dont work on vga I have read and they are pretty expensive for the official one.

I use one on a CRT Monitor, PJ, and LCD TV.
Normally the answer is yes, but depends on what your HDTV is doing to the signal as some are better than others, my Samsung was better than I expected at this, I think it could be upscaling it and de-interlacing it anyway?
So the difference might not be that much, certainly not like moving from 575i on a CRT TV to 480P on a CRT monitor (which is still the best display for a Dreamcast IMO)

@Princey

I have one -think it's a Blaze one I bought a few years back. Yours if you want to borrow it ;)

I've got the same one sitting in my loft, they seem to be worth a fair bit these days and in demand, might be time to post it into the MM.
