I am thinking of getting a ps3 but I already have an Xbox. I will be getting a ps3 for games like uncharted, heavy rain and The Last of Us. I currently have a vita with ps+

Now the way I'm talking myself into it is that I'm missing out on free games with my ps+ account as I only have a vita. The ps3 will probably pay for itself in free games in 6 months or so.

So my question is are there good games on ps3 ps+ or are they junk games no one buys?

I would say so! Get it now before the next games change over so u can get as many as possible :)

The next update looks pretty insane imo, ive had a ps3 since launch mind and some months plus has nothing for me but this one and the next is all stuff i have never played before (except demon souls)

Bargin imo, i have 2 ps plus 30 day trial keys if anyone wants them

Also to answer you actual question:

The games that are always there are great infamous 2 and lbp 2! Not so much motorstorm, its a bit pants but still

THis month has the latest hitman amongst the list and the coming month has a few rpgs and rayman which was ment to be great

Plus u have a vita :)

Win win imo

June's going to be getting Ico & Shadow the of Colossus HD (which is probably reason enough to own a PS3 if you missed them on PS2), as well as Demon's Souls and Kingdoms of Amalur so there's a great lineup of exclusives in the next month alone (bar KoA) :) PS+ has been very kind to us so far, they really seem to listen to what the players want and the selection of games is generally very good.

Yea cant wait to try them, missed them on ps2 :)

Yup, definitely. I was really sceptical regarding PS+, but wanted to play Hitman so figured that I may as well try three months for £11. It was well worth it. I've already got Hitman, Okami, Quantum Conundrum, and Motorstorm to play for "free", and £4 off Ni No Kuni which I'd have bought anyway. I've only been a member for a month, so I still have Ico, SOTC, Demon's Souls, Kingdoms of Amalur, and a whole month after that as well :)

If you're not bothered by online games and just want to catch up on single player exclusives, the cost of a PS3 and a year of PS+ is probably all you would need to shell out.

Ok cheers for the input! Is there anything to look out for when buying second hand? I can get a 250GB slim for 130 from Game. Is there a particular model to avoid or anything?

the games are random, it depends on how many genres you like.

it does tend to be older games or ones im not interested in, but others may like those types of games. the last few updates have been terrible for me.

sleeping dogs and hitman are the only ones i have enjoyed as of late, peeved i missed out on red dead redemption tbh. a lot of them i ain't interested in, usually purchase them anyway since they are free and try them out, if it's crap i simply delete.

imo you should be able to pick up a second hand ps3 for cheap, i wouldnt buy new because ps4 release is only months away now.

you could always just look through the ps+ thread to see what games have been released previously, bare in mind these will never be re-released but will give you an idea of what releases usually contain.

Nobody knows at this stage. It's going to be hard for them to do much for the PS4 because it won't have the games early-on, but I imagine they'll be doing something to reward loyalty.

I imagine the PS3 will still get a good deal out of it, there are plenty of games from the last few years that they can use for it even after the PS4 is released. The PS3 won't suddenly become a paperweight when the PS4 comes out, that much is for certain.

Bit of a thread hijacking, but I'm also contemplating getting a PS3 for PS Plus, but there's quite a few different versions if the PS3 and I thought I'd ask the experts which to get.
Game have a pre-owned 80GB console for £75 (less with a code), but it looks like the original version (not slim or super slim or even Kate Moss slim). Is there any reason to avoid the original version PS3?

From what I've heard they're noisy and unreliable (may overheat or become inoperable before long). I'd settle with a Slim (the 320GB model) or Super Slim if I were you, they go for around £80-£120 on the MM frequently depending on the bundle.

The original ones can be more unreliable than the slim ones, but as far as I know you get a warranty with Game (albeit it's only good for as long as they remain open!) so you'd probably be fine with an 80GB. My 40GB bought in May 2008 failed last November, but my friend has an 80GB he bought at a later date and is is fine.

There are different revisions of the original consoles according to internal changes, power consumption etc; there's probably a guide out there that indicates the differences, but it stands to reason the later revisions will be more reliable.

Thanks for the quick replies. Just found a short guide and the 80GB isn't in fact the 'launch' original model, it's the second version when backwards compatability was removed (doesn't bother me). I've been holding out for a 320GB slim on the MM or on Ebay, but nothing has been under £100 recently. Seeing as I'm going to get PS Plus right away I wanted to keep the console price around £80.
I'll have a look more today and then deide about the Game offer later. As you say, it comes with a year long guarantee.

Main thing I would suggest is keeping a back-up of your game saves. PS+ will do that for you. Reason is, if the console does fail, you've got no way of getting any data off the HDD.

I hope you've been adding all the free content to your download list including the PS3 games since you've been on Plus? The offers don't last forever, but once they're in your list, you have them forever (as long as you are a subscriber).

Then you'll have a nice collection of PS3 games to download and install as soon as you get your console.

(Same goes for Plus users without a Vita - just make sure you add every free Vita game to your download list, in case you eventually buy one.)
