Worth getting clear sky?

Hi i was thinking of getting stalker clear sky but i have not played stalker.
Is it worth getting and do i need to have played stalker first?

Considering that the original stalker is a lot cheaper than buying Clear sky i would recommend getting the first one as if you dont like that it will be very doubtfull you'd enjoy the second installment.

Dont think theirs a demo.

Just read some reviews and watch some gameplay videos, see if it's right for you. If that doesn't help you to decide then simply "borrow" it, as they conveniently forgot to release a demo just like last time.
 
It's mightily tempting, I really enjoyed the first instalment and the faction warfare sounds really good. If you're a newbie to STALKER, I'd suggest getting the first one cheap also, and stay away from the mods on your first run through, or at least minimize the mods. On your first run, small graphics mods like SHARPER, or improved particle effects are worth it imo but don't go for large game changing mods to start with. Playing through on your second time with something like Oblivion Lost running is brilliant though.
 
played SoC and loved it. currently going through CS but having to wait for 1.2 patch now as cant go further cause it keeps crashing!.

I keep reading about the Oblivion lost mod. might have to try it.
 
Im in the middle of downloading the first one from steam now, cost me a few more pounds but I lose disks all the time. Will see how I go with this before I invest in the next one. Whats Oblivion Lost?
 
If your idea of a great game is dumb AI, lots of crashes due to bugs and unexplained visual errors in otherwise decent visuals, then yeah it may be the game for you.
 
I'm playing Clear Skys atm and to be honest its so annoying just like the first one was on its release.

As its not a Games for Windows title I doubt it was ever tested on 64bit vista. No matter what settings I have the graphics quality set to it just seems sticky and sometimes unplayable.

Visually the game is stunning but it is so let down by other things.

I think I have probably just grown out of fps games on the PC and like someone said above the X360 is just so much simpler and user friendly.

Leave the PC's for MMO's and RTS games thats where they shine.

Oblivion Lost is a mod which makes the game a hell of a lot closer to the developer's original vision. It's atmospheric, fun, well balanced and on the whole, bug-free. Do a search for Stalker mods and you'll find it.
 
don't know if im doing something wrong here, but STALKER Clear sky performance is SHOCKING, played through crysis numerous times with custom config. (HDR, POM, edge AA, etc) and performance was never this bad :confused: am i missing something? i also updated to 1.5 or something last night and it doesn't seem to have helped in the slightest, GFX is 8800GTS (G92) at 800 core/2Ghz shader/2Ghz memory
 
I'd say no cos the first was a buggy pile of crap so I don't expect Clear Sky to be any different.
